About Us
First Love Church was planted in 1997 by Jan and Wendy Slabbert, and from its inception displayed a passionate love for God and a deep desire to reach the nations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Following in the legacy of Andrew Murray, God showed us that we were to be a place where people would be equipped for ministry and sent out for His purposes. Responding in faith, the leadership team began a training centre now known as Timothy Ministry Team (TMT). Through ongoing discipleship in the church along with TMT, we have had the opportunity to minister in such countries as Egypt, UK, Italy, Mozambique, Zambia, Uganda, Lesotho, Russia, Ukraine, Madagascar, Japan, Taiwan and South Africa.
In 2011 the Eldership Team (Ruan and Ina Slabbert, Kassie and Marthe du Plessis and Kevin and Lizeldi Samuel), together with the wider leadership team of First Love, felt a growing connection with Joshua Generation Church. Through much prayer and numerous prophetic words we came to understand that God has a joint destiny for us. And so towards the end of 2012 the Eldership Team of both First Love and JoshGen, in response to God’s leading, decided to join one another, with FirstLove Church becoming JoshGen First Love.
We know that God has called us to reach the Drakenstein Valley and other nations of the world, and we have set our minds and hearts towards:-making disciples of Jesus Christ; disciples who reflect the same heart, values and characteristics as those of the early church (Acts 2:42-47)-serving churches both locally and abroad; both those who have partnered with Four12, as well as others who desire input from the larger Body of Christ. The future is bright and God has called us to work with Him. Join us during the week as the church gathers in homes or on Sundays to be part of what God is doing through Joshua Generation Church. Expect a multicultural, multigenerational group of believers who passionately serve Jesus. We look forward to seeing you.
